Review: Lazer Tag LTTO Drone IRT-2x

Lazer Tag IRT-2x. Bring out your inner Woo.
The Lazer Tag LTTO (Lazer Tag Team Ops) Drone IRT-2x was brought out to compliment the Deluxe model but can be used on its own. Again, not available in Australia, and also discontinued, it was a shame given how incredibly cool they are to play with..

The IRT-2X can be hooked up to the Deluxe tagger, interfacing together as one unit. Basically, it means you can run around with a tagger in each hand, John Woo style but your scoring, shots and hits are all grouped together as a single player. It's why the tagger is referred to as the "Drone" or secondary weapon.

It does fully function on its own if you were to prefer it as your primary tagger, but it does not connect to the HUD (heads up displays) that come with the Deluxe models, so if that's not a problem for you (which I doubt it would be as we generally throw our HUDs away) then you can easily get by with just the IRT-2x.

The IRT-2x fits nicely in most hands better than the Deluxe model, and is quite solidly built. It possesses most of the functionality of the Deluxe tagger, other than not having "mega" shot mode (ie taking off more hits from your opponent), no medic mode and because it has auto reload, you're often at the mercy of waiting for it to do so while you're being shot from all directions, as opposed to reloading whenever you want on the Deluxe taggers.

The IRT-2x originally came in green and orange colour schemes, but later released a blue and maroon combo. If you can get your hands on either, do it:)

Given they're discontinued and only available in the US, your best bet is Ebay- and as for price- it's open as to how reasonable your sellers are m'fraid:(

Usability: 6/10
Out of the box performance: 8/10
Cool factor: 7/10
Price point: 7/10 (if you go with the 40 buck average mark)

  1. Actually the IRT-2X could dual with another IRT-2X or a TMB, not the Deluxe. Also the deluxe was the only tagger that could enter into medic mode.
