Glow-in-the-dark Streamlines: We've seen the light!

There's been much speculation about the glow-in-the-dark streamlines that are to accompany the upcoming Nerf N-Strike Rayven CS-18. While I honestly thought it'd be treated as a gimmick and ignored, we've had so many comments on these darts that I guess it was worth writing and asking for a pack after they failed to arrive with the original blaster. Unlike the previous Firefly REV-8, the darts are exposed to light via the clip as opposed to within the blaster itself, meaning for all intended purposes any clip based Nerf blaster can now be used.. well in the dark.

Firefly darts were luminous in the head only, and came with these rather poxy stickers to stick to the darts. The big question was do these new glow in the dark streamlines follow the same format, or if they light up the way on their own?:)

The glow in the dark streamline darts look very much like the whiteout darts only they have the luminous white/light grey looking heads as opposed to the orange tips of the whitouts. The foam itself is treated with that luminous stuff that glows in the dark but in the light, it just looks white.

 As discussed in earlier posts, the Rayven's clip comes with a bright blue LED (I think) lamp that shines through the top and centre of it by merely switching on an on/off switch to the side. This just stays on for as long as you want it to, and it does expose the darts to the light for when you're ready to fire. The light is pretty much exposing the TOP dart in the clip, so the longer you wait between shots, the brighter your dart should be.. arguably:D The light length is shorter than that of a dart, so if you're rapid firing, I noticed the darts are not completely exposed and thus have some dark bits to them.

In the dark, the heads themselves are the brightest as to be expected, but unlike the Firefly, you don't need to apply any stickers to the foam shaft. The foam does glow, but it doesn't stay very bright for very long and it is definitely not as bright as the rubber heads.

It will be interesting to see if Nerf bring out other blasters that use Firefly technology (ie glow in the dark darts). It might be a very cool line and breathe new life into existing blasters by using this new clip and for Nerfers who do want a new element to their gaming. While I can't see many users actually doing this without falling over themselves (I already walked into my bed taking these photos) I admit it's pretty cool to see this mad flurry of green darts flying into the darkness. Of course, the luminous properties do fade, and relatively quickly so if you're looking to use these to make dart retrieval easier- best you do it on the fly:)
