The mystery white Maverick REV-6: A photo essay:)

  

Several months ago, we received a mysterious Nerf Maverick REV-6 in an all new white + grey colour scheme. At the time, we had no intel on it, and we were hoping we'd eventually learn more.. but nope.. nada.  We loved it because it was pretty much our signature colours and drooled at the possibility of other blaster variants in the same white and grey finish. There was speculation that MAYBE this was the new 'gear-up' line, but images of the orange and black striped blasters smashed that theory.

Flash forward a few months and still we're just as in the dark as we were when we got it. What it is/was for, I do not know. I can confirm this ISN'T just a custom paint job- the plastic is actually white and it looks very much factory painted rather than after market enamels.

In any case, it's a good looking design, and just for funsies, I decided to get all arty with my new camera on it. More weird angles after the jump:)

After all this time, the official word is there's no such thing as a Nerf N-Strike Barricade RV-10.  Sure, we all know it exists.. and I find myself looking at it in my hand and saying to myself "are you real?" but despite all of the speculation on release dates and discussions on where it'll be released.. still no official release on the blaster to date. Perhaps this is even a marketing ploy, relying on hype from the rumour-mill and word of mouth to promote what in all honesty is a flawed blaster. Or maybe they're just going to dump it:P

Our posts regarding the Barricade are the most viewed of all pages on Urban Taggers. Despite in depth reviews, people still are keen to know more and so I thought I'd write up a piece that goes up close and personal with the RV-10..

Review: Nerf N-Strike Spectre REV-5

The Nerf N-Strike Spectre REV-5 is a new release blaster for 2010- exclusive to Walmart in the US for an October release, but it has been released in Asia with reports from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia already. It has been the one elusive blaster I couldn't get (I even got my hands on a Barricade RV-10!).. until now. With Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid being big fav's of mine (other than Army of Two!) this blaster was hopefully going to satisfy my "sneak attack" tilt:)

Review- Nerf N-Strike Barricade RV-10

The Nerf Barricade RV-10 is the new foam dart blaster in the N-Strike range; however it is currently only available in Taiwan and readily available worldwide. In the past it's hype has been mainly through rumours and product leaks with much speculation and debate over what it can actually do- and how good it does it. No official press releases or launch parties meant the Barricade has been one of the most talked about blasters of the year, but does it really deserve such press?

Well there's a lot of talk about a mysterious new Nerf blaster, currently referred to as the "Barricade RV-10" (probably because it's printed on the side of the blaster!). It was spotted on China's taobao.com website which is probably bigger than ebay and is notorious for new product leaks, given it's mostly the factory workers who make the stuff who get their hands on a few to sell. The ones listed atm are probably scams, given they're using the same photo of the Barricade on a bed, so I wouldn't recommend trying to buy them just yet..

Preview: Nerf N-Strike new releases for 2010

Nerf has released four new N-Strike guns for 2010 that are enough to get any Nerf collector jumping up and down like a crazy man in excitement. The stealthy looking Spectre REV-5, tonka tuff looking Alpha Trooper CS-18, the bad-ass looking Barrel Break IX-2 and the all important flagship Stampede ECS.

Good news is most of them are already out in various parts of the world. Bad news.. not Australia:( I've got my networks in Hong Kong and the US onto it for me so here's hoping I'll still be able to pick 'em up..

Review: Nerf N-Strike Firefly REV-8

The Nerf N-Strike Firefly REV-8 is a weird gun. I'd resisted getting it several times, simply because I wasn't really a fan of how it looked. I was also not sure if "glow in the dark" foam darts was really a selling point for me. And.. again.. I really wasn't a fan of how it looked.

When I finally picked one up, I have to admit.. it's pretty cool. The revolving barrel supports 8 foam micro sucker darts; it comes with 8 glow in the dark white darts I might add. And although the gun itself looks rather odd and bulky, it's actually quite comfortable to hold and the back of the gun makes for a makeshift stock in your shoulder/chest.

Nerf released the Maverick a few years ago and it's still considered the most recognised, and probably the most popular foam dart gun used in office cubicle 'wars' today.It's main selling point is the fact that it is a revolving barrel 6 shooter, which other than it being fantastic for emptying foam darts in quick succession at your adjacent cubicle mate, is just high on the "that's cool" factor. It's distinctive styling resembles something out of a video game while also being easy to stick into the top drawer of your desk.
