Nerf Haven: Nerf Mega Centurion internals

Thanks to a gentleman by the name of 'Langley', images of the upcoming Nerf Mega Centurion are available on Nerf Haven with a bootload of discussion on the fact that interestingly the Centurion is a reverse plunger blaster. As a non modder, this doesn't mean a whole lot to me, but this could be considered a controversial decision by Nerf. I dunno, is it? More pics after the jump, or head on over to Nerf Haven to get in amongst the discussion. Thanks to everyone for the emails.

  1. I bet its because they couldn't fire projectiles that distance safely.

  2. Man Nerf haven was talking about 60-75' ranges...I hope Orange Mod Works has something in mind for the Centurion.

  3. Well, we could always take out the air restrictor. Not saying it's the safest thing to do, but heck it should improve some.

    1. By adding a plunger so huge that there is still more air that reaches the dart compared to stock elite dps. It's like transferring water with a pail. There's a perfectly fine pail, but you want to increase the water you transfer every time by a third. Instead of using a pail 4/3 the size, you decide to use a pail three times the size but it's leaking.

  5. i think it's a direct plunger, like the eliteline. I'm no genius, but it seems that black nub at the end of the plunger is the air release hole, like in the maverick (look though a clear one, or try modding it, you'll see what i mean)

    1. the maverick is an indirect plunger and they made it indirect because th world isn't ready for that kind of power yet.

  6. This is a reverse plunger. You can tell because the entire tube moves forward to force air into the breech as opposed to a flat plunger head attached to a plunger rod like a direct plunger. The disadvantage of a reverse plunger is more dead space which means less useful air volume is being used to propel the dart.
