Gear Up N-Strike Series: Pic Spam

Gear up for.. tidying my living room. What a mess!
Nerf's upcoming Vortex line of disc shooters have prompted a new.. 'Gear Up' paint scheme for existing N-Strike blasters. Not sure what orange, black and light grey ave to do with gearing up, but I admit in person they are kind of pretty. There's not much I can really say about repaints of old blasters, so I'll just let the pic spam do the talking. Images after the jump.

Nerf Barricade RV-10: Finally makes it to US stores!

The most enigmatic of all the new 2010 blaster range would have to be the Barricade RV-10; it's publicity was almost completely fueled by rumours and fanfare rather than any real advertising or marketing push. We managed to get our hands on one in August but it wasn't long till it became readily available in several other countries worldwide..except the US. I gotta admit, this would have to be a first, and a rather bizarre decision by Nerf given for all intended purposes the US is their home turf?!

Well, it looks like the wait is finally over for our American pals; Nerf Mods and Reviews got their hands on one and it looks like the initial response is pretty good. $16.88 US at Walmart- almost half the price of what we've got 'em here in Australia. That's pretty typical though:(

Barricade RV-10 spotted- my local Target:)

"It's not official! It doesn't exist! It's..oh.."
I'm not sure I can get more "official" than this. A stroll through my local Target, Canberra Centre had me seeing several boxes of Barricade RV-10's on the shelf, not to mention several more sitting on a storage cage in the next aisle. $34 AUS.

Dual wielding: Nerf Barricade RV-10s

It's like a mirror..yet not.
The main appeal of the Barricade RV-10 (the upcoming worst-kept-secret-ever blaster), is the fact it is a hand held semi-automatic blaster that can shoot a decent 10 rounds without requiring any priming. This in turn lends itself to the muchas desirable dual wielding John Woo movie style, which is just a crazy fan favourite amongst.. well pretty much everyone.

The main disadvantage of the Barricade RV-10 is the ridiculous noise that comes from the electric flywheel firing mechanism.

Now.. comes the test we've all been waiting for..how does it feel dual wielding TWO Barricade RV-10s?

Up close and personal: Barricade RV-10- Everything you want to know

Like the Barricade RV-10 NEEDS any more attention:)
After all this time, the official word is there's no such thing as a Nerf N-Strike Barricade RV-10.  Sure, we all know it exists.. and I find myself looking at it in my hand and saying to myself "are you real?" but despite all of the speculation on release dates and discussions on where it'll be released.. still no official release on the blaster to date. Perhaps this is even a marketing ploy, relying on hype from the rumour-mill and word of mouth to promote what in all honesty is a flawed blaster. Or maybe they're just going to dump it:P

Our posts regarding the Barricade are the most viewed of all pages on Urban Taggers. Despite in depth reviews, people still are keen to know more and so I thought I'd write up a piece that goes up close and personal with the RV-10..

Dual wielding: seemed like a good idea at the time

Gun Kata. Or.. possible two sticks of fairy floss.
How cool is dual wielding? We're talking twin 6 guns in the wild wild west- two hand guns in any John Woo movie you can think of (including Appleseed!), and of course my all time fav, Sweet Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider games packing a pair of pistols will just does it for me every time. It's sort of the ultimate in any form of roleplaying (try it- hand a pair of toy pistols to any male and watch him go..) but while in movies this is always sooo cool.. in the world of Nerf this is not so easy. Nerf blasters require your other hand to cock the primer, so unless you've got them on a shoulder strap (in which case it's not REALLY dual wielding but using one after the other) or you're tying your trackie daks drawstring through your pair of Mavericks, you'd traditionally be out of luck. Till.. now:)

Barricade RV-10 spotted.. well sort of.

Ok, this one's mine:)
Mr Toys Toyworld in Brisbane has put up the Barricade RV-10 on their website. It hasn't actually been given a name ON the site, nor an actual price ($0.00 is an awesome deal!) but the fact it's made it onto official toystore sites does suggest 1) it wasn't just a prototype, and 2) people can stop crying about it not being an official blaster. As I've joked many times, I'd be stoked if this blaster was only a prototype and then discontinued.. rare = worth more! Alas it's probably not worth much in the scheme of flywheels.. :P

Visit Mr Toys Toyworld for yourself, though it doesn't tell you a whole lot:)

SG Nerf gets the Barricade RV-10- and rips it open!

It's what's inside that counts:)
SGNerf got their hands on the yet-to-be-released Barricade RV-10.. which leads me to believe if other people are getting it means it's gonna be released soon. They've done what I never dare to do (given my inability to put anything back together again!!)and opened it up to show the internals. Check the internals full review for more details:)

Review: New Nerf Round up- favourite configurations

Not including the Stampede (and the clear series of blasters), there are at least 5 "new" Nerf N-Strike blasters available overseas that are not available domestically in Australia. Adding to that items like the Longstrike (which doesn't seem to "officially" be an Australian release) and accessories like the Mission Kits, camouflage darts and the popular tactical vest, we down under do get royally shafted compared to our overseas cousins. As a collector, I've managed to acquiring all of the new gear to date and other than the novelty of them being "new", I personally believe the cool stakes are definitely much higher than older blasters from years gone by. My attention however has shifted now from merely "acquiring" to properly "playing" with them..

Video: Barricade RV-10 with Dart Tag Ammo

As requested, more vids on the Barricade RV-10- this time with Dart Tag ammo; shooting down a 6 metre hallway. It's actually quite an accurate blaster- but it depends on how steady your wrist is...

Review- Nerf N-Strike Barricade RV-10

The Nerf Barricade RV-10 is the new foam dart blaster in the N-Strike range; however it is currently only available in Taiwan and readily available worldwide. In the past it's hype has been mainly through rumours and product leaks with much speculation and debate over what it can actually do- and how good it does it. No official press releases or launch parties meant the Barricade has been one of the most talked about blasters of the year, but does it really deserve such press?

Preview: more new blaster info... detailed pics!

"I just want to be left alone to do my thing, you know? No photos!"
It's the blaster everyone's talking about... it uses a flywheel mechanism to fire, it's noisy as hell, and here's some new pics of the new Nerf blaster: it's the N-Strike Barricade RV-10. (Now you know what I know!)

Preview: more new blaster info.. and now.. a video!

More interest in this new unreleased blaster- I admit everything I've heard of it has been speculation and unproven to date, and websites that seem to claim they have it are a lil' iffy with their images all looking the same..taken on the same towel :) Anyway I got emailed this a few days ago (video courtesy of "kevinericon") and it's definitely looking pretty real to me. I'm chasing a few leads around to see if I can get more info on it, but this video is looking the goods so far. (interesting to note- it looks like a flywheel mechanism)

Preview: Nerf N-Strike Barricade RV-10?

Nerf "Barricade RV-10". So hot it needs a towel
Well there's a lot of talk about a mysterious new Nerf blaster, currently referred to as the "Barricade RV-10" (probably because it's printed on the side of the blaster!). It was spotted on China's taobao.com website which is probably bigger than ebay and is notorious for new product leaks, given it's mostly the factory workers who make the stuff who get their hands on a few to sell. The ones listed atm are probably scams, given they're using the same photo of the Barricade on a bed, so I wouldn't recommend trying to buy them just yet..
