We made mention of an upcoming Nerf Vortex Lumitron a short while ago, but it was sort of glossed over given the fact it looks a LOT like a Vortex Praxis. Speculation was even that it WAS a Praxis, but with just a new paint scheme. And then there was the speculation about the name, as "Lumitron" suggests cues to the word 'luminous'..to light up..
Funnily enough, at the same time we were all over the Rayven CS-18 with it's Firefly tech, but somehow we just didn't marry the two concepts together...:D
Soo, take the Rayven CS-18 and mix it with a Praxis and you end up with the Lumitron; a repainted Vortex blaster with a 10 round clip that features an LED light inside the clip to light up new glow in the dark XLR discs! Ingenious!
We always thought the XLR discs would be awesome if they were glow in the dark.. :DUPDATE: Amazon.com has it listed- although not available yet or with price, it does indicate availability is just around the corner.
No idea when these will be out just yet, but I'd be suggesting similar timings to the Rayven CS-18. Thanks Thomas for the intel!
The blaster itself is a bit of a disappointment. Was hoping for something...New.
ReplyDeleteBut I really like the lighted magazine. How the batteries are placed (Ok, LOOK like they're placed) is an excellent choice--I'd rather have a longer magazine than a thicker one.
How did you come upon these pictures?
ReplyDeletelooks more like a alpha trooper than a rayven
ReplyDeletei saw this coming since the release of the vortex blasters.
ReplyDeleteSo now the praxis is useless
ReplyDeleteJust wondering: if this is the second firefly related blaster, are they going to make more or have "firefly" repaints?
ReplyDeleteA firefly green recon would be nice...
CrazyCon
TRON, anyone?
ReplyDeleteWell that's stupid, why would they repaint then rename the blaster? Why not just call it the Praxis Firefly edition or something?
ReplyDeleteThe problem with the vortex line is that straight up Nerf made 4 awesome yet totally different blasters. Meaning there aren't many ideas that actually differ from the current vortex range, therefore i assume most of the vortex blasters will be very similar to the current 4.
ReplyDeleteprobably looks pretty cool when firing off the disks
ReplyDeleteDon't really see the point in renaming the blaster just because it glows, but whatever
ReplyDeleteClip looks more like a 20 round one than a 10 round clip, unless they have some sort of light thing at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteThe only way it could be made better would be if it had Slamfire.
ReplyDeleteIt does... sort of

Looks like the only difference between this and the Praxis is, the paint, the 4AA batteries for the magazine, and a lack of a stock.
ReplyDeleteSo basically if they started selling the magazines separately, we wouldn't even need to buy this new gun.
if the light is in the clip, then it means both the normal praxis and nitron can also use it, then they can also have the glow in the dark feature too.
ReplyDeletebtw i also noticed they removed the shoulder stock from the lumitron.
so add a clip tech, remove the stock. have to use the praxis stock, what a way to mess up the colors.
seeing as how this blaster is the same shade of green as the rayven, i suppose the firefly tech blasters are all gonna be lime green?
ReplyDeleteinb4 firefly repaint
So is the firefly going to get rereleased as an updated blaster? I kind of hope so. It seems pointless to release a new type of both disks and darts to be used in exclusively one blaster, so I think we're gonna get some more of these in the future, and hopefully a new magazine-fed vortex blaster.
ReplyDeleteI wish they would make a new Vortex blaster for it at least. Maybe one that looks like a sniper rifle or something.
ReplyDeletemabye this is the next "gear up series"? Firefly tech!
ReplyDeleteglow disk r pretty cool
ReplyDeletei should come with the vortex scope too!
ReplyDeleteOriginally the Thing was n-strike VS vortex. Now they team up. Love he paint.
ReplyDeleteI will get back to you with more info
how much does the lumitron cost
ReplyDelete25.99 American $
Deleteare the batteries stored in the clip or the gun?
ReplyDeletein the clip its basicly like the rayven with a different gun and different paint job and its 30.oo dollers no 25
ReplyDeletelumitron and praxis are same thing but differet colors, name anddiscs just glow in the dark
ReplyDeleteall nerf stocks are useless, the lack of one doesn't hurt this gun at all
