Lanard Scatterblast: GRENADE!!! Well.. sort of.

The Lanard Scatterblast has a small cult following, although my personal experiences are that it's rubbish. I bought one of these a few years ago when I first got into office Nerf wars. 

One of our managers made an "anonymous" complaint that it was unprofessional conduct, so rather than back down, we did a "drive by", I sat on a swivel chair as a mate pushed me along past the manager's office and we hurled one of these puppies at his desk. Alas.. rather than the desired effect of them hitting the desk and launching a barrage of darts at him, instead the Scatterblast itself just smacked him in the face, knocking off his glasses and landed on the filing cabinet next to him, undetonated. 

I ended up throwing it out when I finally left the job, but since then many people have been looking for these (with the assumption that they were discontinued) and they seem to have emerged again on shelves- in this instance at my local Target. $15 bucks.. guess it's worth picking one up to try again... :)

Super Soaker Tornado Strike + Scatterblast via SG Super Soaker

At the end of last year Australia was doing really well with getting Hasbro's blasters early; especially their Super Soaker range. This made a LOT of sense given it's Summer here atm, and given it's been a pretty wet season, water restrictions are not as tight as they were, which lends itself to water fights being more acceptable amongst..well everyone. First we got the Thunderstorm.. tick! Then the Point Break.. Awesome! And then..  nothing.  I thought it was well worth it to import a Hydro Cannon from the US, but was a lil unsure about the other two; the Tornado Strike + the Scatterblast.

I'm personally not partial to piston based water blasters, and so was not prepared to pay the incredibly high import costs to get these two, (and I went a little crazy acquiring much more effective vintage CPS blasters instead) but you can't deny they don't both look awesome, at least aesthetically. SG Nerf's new Super Soaker site features them (obviously they're available in Singapore!) and he's done some awesome vids so have a look and see for yourself if you're interested in hittin' up Amazon:)

Rumours: 2011 Super Soakers- packaging

Found a few more images of the new upcoming Super Soaker range- here we've got the packaging for the new piston style blasters that should be released early next year; the Scatter Blast with the 5 stream barrel and the Tornado Strike, which is an updated (and much cooler looking) version of the old Helix water blasters. Looks like the Scatter Blast will be around $10.95 US and the Tornado Strike will be $21.95 US.

Rumours: Super Soaker Scatter Blast + Point Break

More new releases for 2011- we've confirmed the new Super Soaker line up will also include the Super Soaker Scatter Blast and the Super Soaker Point Break. Sorry for the low quality pics, but I'm sure when they become more official (or I get my hands on them!) we'll offer you better images. Once again they're in the new white/blue/orange colour schemes.

From what we know, the Scatterblast is a pump action "shotgun" piston style blaster that is unique from other piston style blasters in that it has five nozzles, hence releasing five streams at once. It also sports the N-Strike compatible tactical rails.

The Point Break is a handheld pressurised water blaster, with the air pump under the muzzle. It too looks like it features tactical rails.

Neither of these new blasters feature the 'clips' as per the Tornado Strike and the Thunderstorm though.
