Ubisoft Battle Tag laser gun system at FCC, up for preorder

It's.. well.. longish?

Soo.. I’m kinda confused. Last year there was a relatively sedate launch of Ubisoft’s new Battle-Tag laser tag system..but it seems its only NOW met US FCC approval? Either way apparently they should be making the rounds in all stores in the US real soon..
$130US is a tad dear for two blasters, but I still really want to get my hands on a set just to give them a whirl. Read more on the link- you can even see some internals. Cool.

Dart Tag 2011: How far have you gone to 'kit' out?

I’m actually quite a fan of “Nerf’s new action sport”; With all of the new Dart Tag gear that’s come out, I was wondering how many of you have actually gone ahead to play the game the way Nerf wants us to? How many of us have picked up not just the Dart Tag blasters, but also the official jerseys, eyewear and set up 4-a-side 5 minute games? Got yourself a referee or two? How about flags, are you using traditional flags or going high tech with the earlier Dart Tag beacons from the Stormfire pack? The new rules state if you’re hit you need to return to base for 10 seconds, whereas the old rules stated you had to freeze for 10.. which way would you play?

Then there are a few things that AREN’T in the official rules; how large should the playing area be? Are there ‘outs’ or no go zones? Do you assign players with positions + roles (like in Harry Potter!) or is it free for all? Do you reckon every player on the team should have a different blaster? Would you restrict your players to ONLY Dart Tag blasters or allow them to pack N-Strikes as well (so long as it could accommodate Dart Tag Velcro tips)

Deploy, Nitefinder and Maverick."

It's a shame though that it's the same lineup of Maverick, Nite Finder and Deploy as with the Sonic and Clear series. History would suggest that the Recon CS-6will be in there too, but it'd be very nice if it was something else. What do you reckon folks, do you think there WILL be a fourth blaster in the white variant? And while it probably WILL be a Recon, if you had your way, what blaster would you like to see have this white treatment?

Super Soaker Tornado Strike: Helix on steroids

We were pretty proud of ourselves months ago when we brought the Tornado Strike to the world's attention; unfortunately we couldn't get our hands on one until now, so I have no doubt people have pretty much already seen it, bought it, and there are probably units sitting outside fading in the sun of some kid's backyard by the garden hose:P 

ANYWAY.. what matters is.. we DO have one, so now we can give you our opinion on the Tornado Strike. And it's exactly as I thought.. It's a Super Soaker Helix on steroids:)

Super Soaker Shot Blast: updated colours - we got one:)

We got ourselves a new Super Soaker Shotblast with the new 2011 colour scheme courtesy of our man Dave. Although the blaster itself isn't one of our fav's (technically, it's not completely a piston based water blaster, but as far as we're concerned, no trigger, no fun) it does look cool and the big wins are it comes with the repainted detachable shotblast stock and the Shotblast scope ( the scope was originally a bonus add on only available at Toys R Us).  

We've done a writeup on the Super Soaker Shotblast already, so here's just a pic spam of the new colour scheme after the jump:)

Whoo hoo! New gear. 

One of the things that keeps me in the blogging game is the great rapport I get with like minded people and the friendships that come from them. An example of this is one of our readers Dave in the US very kindly offered to take the time to pick up some blasters for me that were not readily available in Australia, venturing over to the malls and finding me the best deals he could; also taking the time to remove them from their packaging, wrap them with a great deal of care and mail them over to me in the most efficient way possible. Arrived at my door this morning.. very happy Pocket:)

While the internet might be a faceless medium and encourages keyboard warriors, flamers and scammers, it's really nice to know you can still help each other out and trust someone you've never met face to face. Muchas grateful Dave, thanks heaps!

'That' yellow Raider stock..

A few months ago, Nerf brought out the Barricade RV-10 in the US with a bonus removable stock attachment. Unusual choice of blaster to include a stock with, (although it makes sense as it definitely helps accuracy with the Barricade's semi automatic firing) but what made it all that little bit more exciting was it was a repaint of the Nerf Raider CS-35 stock. Yup, the stock everyone likes..and finally, in yellow and black. If you hadn't bought a Barricade already, chances are many people bought one just for the stock. Like me. Sort of:)
