No! Wrong! Nobody panic! Don't jump to conclusions; the N-Strike line is probably NOT going away! The sales representative (or Nerf official; the person who was explaining, anyway) said that the Gear Up series was a set of "special-edition N-Strike blasters in special deco that will be on shelves for a limited time, then once 9/10/11 hits, they will go away and be replaced by the Vortex line." The whole conversation was about the Gear Up series; it is THEY who will be going away when Vortex comes, NOT the rest of N-Strike. After all, the Clear series was just to "clear the way" for the Stampede, was it not? Both of these special-edition lines were promotions to keep the people happy while Nerf finished the creation of something new. Also, the sign right above the screen (as most everyone pointed out earlier) said "N-Strike vs. Vortex", and so it would go to reason that the two lines would coexist. (Talk about shouting fire in a crowded theatre, Anonymous #3!) :)
Just to clarify: I may be wrong, and Vortex may be set to replace N-Strike. But I reject this idea for two reasons - 1) I love N-Strike as it is, and 2) I am not willing to accept this long-standing line's demise as fact until we find some more solid evidence than a single out-of-context conversation on YouTube. (Of course, an official statement by Nerf would be best, but seeing as though they usually announce things about a month or two after we know about them, I am not too hopeful about that.)
One more argument - right now, it's only February, and Vortex comes out in September! Surely Nerf has more business smarts than to try to last 7 months on nothing more than a third re-release of blasters in a different color scheme...
AAAWWWWWWWWW COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDelete@ Anonymous #5:
ReplyDeleteThere were two blasters visible, both in Gear Up trim - on the left, the Barricade RV-10; on the right, the Recon CS-6.

NERF Vortex Ammo Refills sounds like guns to me. http://www.blasted.de/t1086/
ReplyDeleteThe Vortex line oughta be awesome. Maybe the'll be more organic looking as opposed to the mechanical, modern times guns of the N-Strike line.
