Random: 3000 Elite darts for sale for $799..

How many darts would you say you've gone through in your 'foam career?' 100? 500? Well, true veteran battlers know the quality of your darts is almost as important as the blaster itself when partaking in foam battles and alas they DO wear out and require regular refreshing. If you want to spend less time buying new darts and more time raining foam on your opponents, US e-tailer Think Geek has this insane offer of a massive 3000 darts for sale for the grand price of $799US.  THREE THOUSAND. I wonder how much that would weigh?:P

Smaller packs are available too, but where's the fun in that...

  3. This is actually a really bad price per dart.

  4. According to this, Elite darts weigh 1g each. I expect TG would ship as 40 × 75 blister packs. So 3Kg plus a bit more for packing.

  5. Not much of a sale. Amazon sells the 75 dart package for $19.47 right now. 40 of those, 3000 darts, comes out to $778.80. Thinkgeek is just selling them at MSRP.

  6. Aren't 75 dart packs like 19,99 at target?

I beleive by going through Think Geek you're saving yourself 60 cents! (Not counting costs of shipping)
    ...
True your local target probably won't have 40 packs lying around but I bet you can talk them into a bigger discount then 60 cents.

  8. That's full retail, what's the point?

  9. 3000/75*$19.95 = $798.00 This is same as retail.

  10. Elite darts weigh exactly 1 gram, so 3000 would be three kilos--about 6.6 pounds. That's without any packaging.

I assume, though, that all 3000 aren't going to come in a single manufacturer's package; they'd probably show up as 10 cases of 4 packs each (as listed on a wholesaler's site) of 75-dart retail packages. The retail package of 75 darts weighs either 5.6 oz (as listed on Amazon) = 158g, or 181g (as listed on Amazon UK). 40 packs would then be 6.32kg to 7.24kg (about 14-16 lbs). So that, plus the weight of 10 cases, plus the outer packaging, probably means an 18-20 pound package on one's doorstep, about 4ft by 2ft by 1ft (just to give one an idea of size, it'd probably come in multiple packages).

  11. Did a quick calculation
12 dart pack gives a cost of 0.5825 USD per dart whereas the 3000 pack gives a cost per dart of 0.2666 USD. You save a little over 50% is you're willing to spend the 800$

    1. But as someone else posted, you get the same degree of savings by buying a 75-dart pack (which retails for $20 unless you shop at Overpriced R Us). 3000 darts is 40 75-dart packs.

  12. Smaller dart packs are always a huge rip-off. I paid $0.50 per dart for 72 darts and got 6 Elite Alpha Troopers for free two weeks ago. :) Yay corporate mishaps!

  13. Way to expensive. It should be $7.99 not $799
