Rumors: Nerf N-Strike Elite 'Strong Arm' (UPDATED)

N-Strike Elite Strongarm. Pic from eBay
Whoah, where did this come from?! Someone once said it would be cool for the classic Maverick REV-6 to get the N-Strike Elite treatment, and this would appear to be the next best thing:) Looks like a revolver, fires 6 darts and the tactical rail looks like it's been moved forward on the gun rather than on the rear like the Mav. Barrel looks smoother too.

This is the first I've heard of it, but the photo looks legit. N-Strike Elite Strong Arm. Here it is folks!

Back of the box states it has Slam Fire- whoah!

Interestingly, Nerf have used the name "Strong Arm" before in their vintage 'CyberStryke' days:

Probably more of a coincidence, as I don't see the resemblance at all:P

29-7-12: UPDATE: The seller of this made this claim:

"I am a 67 year old lady who goes to yard sales and had no idea what this was. This is crazy. I like to buy items to put on e-bay and craigslist, find Christmas presents and new toys to donate to children at Christmas."

My guess is since we posted this she must be getting some serious email traffic from keen lil' Nerfers asking her about the blaster and how she got it. I'd also suggest she's a tad nervous about legal implications (re Hasbro goons) and doing her utmost to throw everyone off the scent. It's probably not the most believable story 'she' could have come up with, but hey, I don't blame her for trying- given her location is very close to Hasbro's head office in Rhode Island..

3-8-12: UPDATE: Well the blaster went from $142.40 with four hours to spare to a final sale price of a WHOPPING $1125.01  That's some serious cash. Of course, there's always the issue of whether the seller will actually get that money and whether it was a genuine buyer. No, it wasn't us:D

Thanks Tim for the original lead.

  1. Weird it kinda looks like the maverick but updated and better looking.

Like it looks like a love child of the maverick and the spectre

    1. Dude you totally stole that from Zook

    2. No he stole it from it me. Check the dates of the posts

  2. It's even got 75ft distance and the rail isn't on the cocking handle anymore, Good job Nerf :D

  3. Awesome, Urban Taggers gets the scoop again on new Nerf gear! Are you going to teach Hasbro how to use eBay too?:-D

From the looks of the listing, it's someone who doesn't really know what they're selling. I'm sure the Strongarm will be a LOT cheaper in a few months time when it comes out. If it is just a Maverick replacement, it should be half of the asking price.

  4. Hmm... great scoop! Since it has the advertised 75ft it probably only gets 50-60ft flat unless Nerf somehow makes it shoot 75ft. Finally, a better place for a Tactical rail!

Still, that'll be cool if the 'Strongarm' can get 15m flat...

  5. Looks like a Mav Spectre hybrid but me no liekz the look of it at all. I personally would have preferred if they had gone one way or another, not a hybrid.

  6. The Elite series very much interests me; but having said that, up until now my focus has been on wanting to buy the elite darts to get better distance from my modded and unmodded existing blasters. The Strongarm though I'll definitely buy; the Hailfire, Retaliator don't interest me and I'm in two minds about the Rampage & the Stockade.

The deciding factor will be range tests with my Raider once the OMW kits goes in & I get some elite darts. As for the Stockade, it'll depend on people's range test with high voltage mod versus my rewired barricade that has high voltage AA's in it.

Does anyone know about any other 2012 Dart Tag blasters apart from the Snapfire 8 (which looks intriguing)?

  8. Oh, no! Pocket, you shouldn't have posted this; YOU should have bought this first and then told us about it! Now the entire NIC is going to pounce on this... :P Good info anyway! I'm not that surprised; the Maverick is the quintessential Nerf blaster and a true icon, so of course it needed an Elite version... but, as it is rather antiquated, they needed to reshell in order to give it 75ft internals... Still, I wish they had called it the "Maverick II" or something a little more related. First the loss of capacity-loading designations (CS-6, etc.), and now another rather pointless name for something which we can all identify in a flash.

    1. With four days to go and no "but it now" option, I doubt Pocket could have kept the link under wraps and he probably wouldn't have wanted to anyway with Hasbro goons watching him. Given Elite is officially a September launch, whoever does buy the blaster is only going to get props for being the first for a very short period of time before they come out for probably 10-15 bucks at Target:-P

    2. Mmmmm... I suppose not even Pocket's levels of dedication would make a simple Maverick successor seem worth $1,125.01 USD and another visit from Hasbro's lawyers. Though I feel like the Strongarm may not be part of the official launch - though, thanks to Amazon, that's obviously been before September. Its lack of reference on the other Elite packaging points to a release closer to that of the Stockade and Firestrike... like a "7th eighth" or spring launch instead of a 3rd quarter one.

  9. I see the resemblance, they are both direct plunger and fire darts :) but I am liking this one already, it seems someone finally answered the question "what if a maverick and spectre had a baby, and that baby had a baby with a night finder"

    1. They are NOT both direct plungered, The Spectre and Maverick are both reverse plungered, this appears to be direct plungered.

    2. He was probably talking about the Elite Strongarm and the Cyberstrike Strongarm

      Delete
    3. From the article: "Probably more of a coincidence, as I don't see the resemblance at all:P"
Obviously he meant both Strongarms are direct plungers.

  10. Take a look at the at the image in the bottom right on the Strongarm package. It looks like it might hold more than 6 darts to me (like around 8 i'm guessing)

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm actually VERY interested in this. In one hand I'm slightly "...um, legit?" about it due to the "up to 75 ft" ranges stamp on it... I'm hoping that's a direct plunger and a good spring talking, and not a bad packaging flaw/typo.

HOWEVER! On the other hand if this indeed real, I'm extremely interested to see what it is like, and how much of a Maverick/Spectre it is, especially if the barrel/cylinder turns on the trigger pull (like the Mav) *or* on the priming bar (like the Spectre)

And above all... THAT kind of range/power in a smaller pistol size than a Recon/Retaliator? Very intruiged...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It would appear to be more of a Spectre, since the chambers are lined up with the barrel, and it looks like the trigger isn't being pulled.

  12. I would say that nerf has looked up what the modding community does, night-mav anyone? to be honest the only Elite I'll be keen on is the firestrike (redone nightfinder) and if they make an elite longshot seeing as they're discontinued, an elite crossbow would be nice but I doubt it.

  13. is it just me or does the turret look too short?

    ReplyDelete
  14. i feel like this could be the best 2 hand use pistol so far, has a handle similar to the marevick's, a slide like the maverick's, a barrel alinement like the spectre's, a rail on top like the spectre's, and the range of up to 75ft

  15. Does anyone actually believes that the person who is selling it is a 67 yo grandmother finding nerf guns no one else has seen at a garage sale?

    1. Of course not, obviously someone has contacted "her"

  17. Her sales history doesn't seem to be that of someone hiding something, though. I think she might very well be legit.

Which means our community, as well as Hasbro who must have contacted her about the listing are probably scaring the crap out of her right now.

  18. This blaster also has iron sights

  19. next gen mav/spectre?

  20. HEY!!! Looks like I was right after all! After posting about the Elite Maverick speculation on the Rampage review, no one replied and gave their ideas. Now, theres way more comments on this than the others. I think I deserve credit for this ;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Here's an interesting tidbit: You can tell by the position of the barrel in the box that it rotates on the prime like a Spectre. Basically it's a Spectre with 6 darts, no barrel/stock and of course Elite ranges.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Because of the seller's sales history I believe that she is telling the truth. The key to all of this is that her ebay account says she lives in Riverside, RI, which is only 20 minutes away from Hasbro headquarters in Pawtucket, RI. So I believe that it is possible that someone from Hasbro smuggled it out and sold it shortly there after.

    ReplyDelete
  23. did anyone else notice the back of the box says "SLAM FIRE SLIDE" pointing to the priming handle?

    ReplyDelete
  24. i want to know (because it has slamfire) does the prime work like a maverick slide where it has the return spring or will it prime like the speedload 6 (the only other slamfire pistol blaster)?

  26. The buyer was probably hasbro trying to get its leaked stuff back.

  27. Makes me wonder, if the blaster is already at the stage of packaging, why dont they just start selling them now? As it stands, this seems to be an offical release of 2013...This blasters way to cool tho! Should be released sooner!

  28. I think it will be an awesome backup to my retaliator sidearm

  29. Would it be cool if the was a elite Vulcan with slam fire AND normal rapid fire also I am going to post a YouTube vid in the next week about it I don't have it. I might be setingup a blog as well so I'll post pics if I start one

  33. The fact is, for slam fire to work, that means it will have the barrel mech from the spectre (prime and rotate) which will give it a better seal altogether. that will leave the trigger mech alone to just fire the gun, unlike the maverick where the trigger advances the barrels. couple those points with the elites direct plunger systems, and this thing should outrange mavs and spectres easily.

  36. Saw some in the local Toys R Us store and more on ebay. Did Nerf release some early?

  37. My co-worker brought a new Strongarm in today, and it if freaking awesome! Stock out of the box, it kills the range of my modded maverick. Unlike what Nerf Wiki says, it does fire streamline darts. Sadly, my co-worker won't let me take it apart to see the internals though.

    ReplyDelete
  38. So I got my own Strongarm. It will fire regular slimlines darts if you shorten the posts a bit. Out of the box flat distance test was between 40 and 50 feet. Air restricter removed and the range is around 70 feet.
