Ok, so something brought to our attention by one of our readers 'Iamiamomo' has me thinking twice about my previous post. Firstly, zooming in to the name plaque of the blaster shows not 'CS-18' but "CS-12"..
Secondly, scrolling down the
Baidu post allegedly shows some internals of this "pre-production" Alpha Trooper. I'm not into opening blasters myself, but apparently, it's actually NOT the same as what the traditional Alpha Trooper CS-18 has. Here's an internals pic of the AT from SGNerf:

The back blaster is a Raider- disegard that:P |
Thoughts?
The darts in the clip are stock streamlines an not elites.
ReplyDeleteEven so... that's a direct plunger, pretty strong proof of being a elite gun.
DeleteWhen we first saw the triad, it was not using elite darts either, and it clearly exists...
DeleteYes but the Roughcut remains a myth, can't find one of those anywhere :)
DeleteThe roughcut isn't a myth I bought one in America.
DeleteThe rough cut has already come out as a soft release. There's another blog post about it.
DeleteCalm down there kidys, was just saying I'm having no luck here in the states finding one. I know they have been soft realeased just I haven't been lucky enough to come across one on store shelves. Maybe my luck will change once the stores start restocking after Christmas.
DeleteIf this is real I'm obtaining several... The AT is my weapon of choice, even against elite stuff, but an upgraded one is even better.
ReplyDeleteSeeing as no current Elite blaster has an orange direct plunger tube, it's probably legit.
ReplyDeleteAs the AT is my longest running favourite blaster (and is still a blaster of choice even with the Retal and Pyragon around), I'm really excited.
my favorite blaster revamped! I say yes! although I still want to grab a few originals before they disappear. I have a feeling that once the elite trooper comes out, Targets will have a hard time trying to sell the original so they might put it on sale to get rid of them.
ReplyDeleteIf it really is a pre-production run blaster it is quite possible that they simply modified a preexisting AT mold to cast the prototype, instead of waiting to create the actual elite molds. This would explain the old logo and shoddy painting, while still pointing to a real product (hence the legitimate looking internals).
ReplyDeleteIt could be the Elite AT, but why doesn't it have the elite logo on it? Could it be a prototype, or a really convincing mod/ paint job?
ReplyDeleteWell so much for all my work implanting the retaliator into my alpha trooper. :F
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think it's fake. I think that because preproduction models of the retaliator and rampage had orange plunger tubes. If someone got the air hands on one of those, they could cut down the bolt on the at bolt and slide on the orange plunger tube assembly. They would keep the original catch in place and potentially dremel or cut pieces of plastic out of the shell to make room if needed. I don't own at, so I can't test if the plunger tube would fit.
ReplyDeleteIf this is legit... still slightly skeptical, just because the logo is not the Elite Logo, the Blaster name is black lettering on white, the orange Nerf logo, and orange stock piece... this will be my must have, I pretty much have every Elite blaster outside the Rampage, Triad and Hailfire. I will own at least 2 of these.
ReplyDeleteIt seems legit actually. We all know that twelve-dart drums are elite stuff and that some of the names are coming with the 'cs' opposite to others... Man it's a pain in the ass not knowing the truth!
ReplyDeleteI call legit. We've seen this type of thing from Baidu before. The shell is fully colored externally and internally, the internals are well fitted for the Alpha Trooper's shell. It has a specifically built rear plunger cover. The Alpha Trooper shell itself has been modified.
ReplyDeleteAll things considered, the retention of the original N-Strike logo is trivial compared to the other convincing pieces.
Just throwing it out there, what modder paints the inside of a shell? I think it could be real.
ReplyDeleteI dunno but this pic off the Baidu site seems pretty convincing that it might be the real deal.

I'm going to catch @#!*% for this, but...
ReplyDeleteI actually hope that this DOESN'T get released, if it is real. I'm tired of buying the top-of-the-line guns, only for NERF to release a "new and improved" version, which means that if I want to be back on top, I need to basically buy 0.5 of a gun.
Since it's pre-production and the 'eliteified' blasters use the same external shell, it is an Alpha Trooper mould and until they figure out the kinks and get the publicity team onto; it may get branded something like "Gamma Trooper" or "Omega Trooper"
ReplyDeleteSince its an elite blaster, i was thinking of "Echo Trooper".
DeleteI really like the sound of "Omega Trooper".
ReplyDeleteI'll be calling it the Omega Trooper, regardless of the actual name Nerf gives it :)
ReplyDeleteBeta Trooper would be most logical name.
ReplyDeleteIt might not even be a "X" Trooper though.
So far all blasters capable of slam fire come with a drum and 12 darts will be too small for that....
ReplyDeleteThe Strongarm has slam-fire.
DeleteI don't have much excperience wither release leaks but you would think the blaster would be In a different enviroment
ReplyDeleteMight I draw your attention to this http://mylastdart.blogspot.co.uk/
ReplyDeleteCONFIRMED! :D
Well we don't need Baidu anymore, I can confirm that the Elite Alpha Trooper exists, if you're in the UK check out the new Argos catalog. Apparantly it's coming out in the UK on the 1st of March, 12 dart clip, the blurb doesn't mention any other details nor is there any box art.
ReplyDeleteGot a crappy mobile phone photo, may take a better one and upload if there's any demand? It's just a standard catalog shot of some dude holding it and looking serious, nothing super special.
