Ben from Neo Creations sent us this very cool "artist's rendition" of what the upcoming N-Strike Elite Hail Fire could look like, based on the video Nerf posted earlier today. It's pretty sweet; thoughts?
Neo Creations: Nerf Hailfire. What Does It Really Look Like?:
heres hoping for a blaster with potential this time...
ReplyDeleteamen dude
DeleteThanks for posting this UT. I really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteKinda looks like the Semperfire RF-200 from the first Nerf game for the Wii.
ReplyDeleteAlso, in post #20 on this page http://www.blasted.de/t2155/ it says something about shooting 48 shots. Would that mean that each magazine has 12 darts? The magazines sure don't look like it, so there might be 2 stacks of darts. My final question: I wonder if that thing can take drums?
The presumably rotating magazine selector appears large enough to throw a raider drum in each magazine well. If the new darts can fit inside the current magazines, we might have a blaster with an ammo capacity of 140 rounds. If thats the case, this is definitely the tool for the heavy weapons guy in every crew.
ReplyDeletecool drawing but i hope it doesent look like that when released
ReplyDeleteTrue that
DeleteNerf Hailfire AKA the BFG of Nerf.
ReplyDeleteHOLY MOLY! THAT LOOKS AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty upset about the decision to hold this thing with a handle on the top, rather than some from of grip. It's going to make firing this thing wildly inaccurate.
ReplyDeleteWow... that be crazy.
ReplyDeleteSometimes though I think smaller is better.
I'm sure there's a dirty joke in there somewhere ;p
Looks like as you empty a mag, you can press a button and automatically switch to another. It looks to hold 4, and if it comes with the 6rounders, thats 24 darts. But imagine with 4 aftermarket 35 round drums!!!!
ReplyDeleteSORRY GUYS, BUT IT LOOKS PREGNANT! BB
ReplyDeleteThree clips? Also, ugly as sin. I hope this is wrong.
ReplyDeletei can see it now, someone is going to have 4 raider drums, and just dominate everything
ReplyDelete:o
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing this blaster will be a disappointment. That ridiculous turntable may look cool, but it won't be very practical. It will probably just get in the way of maneuverability. I have much higher hopes for the Recon- and Raider-like versions.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be one hell of a conversation piece!
ReplyDeleteI dont think it was made for sniping ( like its possible with a stock nerf blaster) its definitely design for suppresive fire, hence the name Hail Fire....basiclly means raining down a sh*tload of darts on a target, so lets stop with the accuracy bs.
ReplyDeletei LOVE the idea of a rotating multi clip thing. it looks awesome and iwth that you could fit many more darts in with the 25 dart drum mad that comes with the other blasters. the one thing that disappoints me is there looks to be a "rev up " trigger underneither the regular trigger. like the Nitron which most people hated in that blaster. i think it's going to be a high powered fly wheel gun. question is will it come with it's own rechargable batteries of will we have to buy like 8D's i'm assuming the first to be true. also another question is how loud will it be. we have seen an improvement of noise over power from the barricade to the rayven. will that continue??? and obviously the price point.
ReplyDeleteI see that with each rotation there are two clips aiming towards the barrel. Burstfire possibly. Bringing up the nerf speed record of 3 darts a second to 6? I love playing with the big nerf guns. I gotta stampede and a titan. After I get this i just need Nerf to make a six round nerf grenade launcher. Yes i know i forgot the vulcan but whose gonna need that after this.
ReplyDeleteHow can you guys think this looks ugly? It's like a damned BFG, and you're taking looks into account when performance matters? Not to mention it does actually look awesome..
ReplyDeleteI agree with the 6 round grenade launcher...that would be sweet!
ReplyDeleteSeems a little to futuristic looking for N-Strike imo... :/
ReplyDeleteI think I know why its supposed to have 48 darts. Think if this bad boy had 4 of the clearish looking 12 dart clips like the retaliator. 4x12=48. The sneakpeak kinda cuts off the bottom of the clips so I bet that's it! That would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does the clip in the front look slightly lower than the one in the back?
ReplyDeleteIf so, this blaster could possibly have a slight "dip" in the track for the clips' rotations. What i mean is: When each clip rotates to the frontmost position, it drops slighlty lower than the two clips in the center. When they rotate back toward the rear of the blaster, they rise higher than the height of the center clips. If this is true, we could be looking at the possibility of having some internals similar to those of the stampede's automatic-ness (plunger assembly, firing mech, electrical mess, etc.).
These are just my thoughts on this very confusing blaster that's blowing peoples' minds.
Just a speculation here: that supposed "acceleration trigger" might actually be a trigger that advances the 4-clip turntable. Judging by the whole "75 foot ranges" thing, NERF has finally started listening to us and has started giving us what we want. And what we want is NOT another flywheel blaster. This thing could be a full-auto-Stampede-style blaster, and all the hype about it being a flywheel blaster could be for naught. Just my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI valued about N-Strike blasters that they somewhat took design cues from real life weapons and "sci fi'd" them up a bit. This blaster is plain ugly and doesn't fit in the N-Strike range, visually and technically.
ReplyDeleteI can't see any real use in an over-sized blaster with a handle on top and magazines on the bottom. Ever wondered why "real guns" don't have that? I predict encumbered users, awkward reloading "sessions", frustration and buyers remorse. Plus more moving parts means more chance of malfunction, and imagine the turntable failing... the blaster becomes practically useless.
And given that the magazines are on the bottom, together with the turntable, there is a HIGH chance of breaking it by simply putting it down carelessly (aka in the heat of a battle, sick of reloading 4 clips, which have to be taken out of a pocket or other compartment, then the empty clips have to be taken out of the blaster, replaced with full ones... BLAM!!! THE GUY WITH THE MAVERICK JUST GOT ME!!!)
Call me lame, but a Vulcan "MK II" would've been much more intriguing than this. An improved belt feeding mechanism, or a Vulcan with clips, or a new hybrid of clip and "ammo box". Something original, but still true to the classics.
Another thing that strikes me, is that this somewhat reminds me of a mid-90s era Super Soaker.
Super Soakers now look like real guns... blasters look like super soakers... HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD?!!
/rage
I am realy happy about this new series but I do think they should come out with a new shorter ammo to make the guns smaller and put the clips in the handle
ReplyDeletei imagine the little button underneath the trigger is probably to advance the clip turntable. i see no other buttons/switches/levers suggesting otherwise.this most likely will be a total pain to reload, but then again thats why we have 35 drums amirite?
ReplyDeleteWhat does it do!?!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteWhy when I say this, I thinked about the Spinfusor from Starsiege:Tribes?
