We just received this intel from a very mysterious email; here is a first look at the N-Strike "Elite" Retaliator.
From what I can see, it looks like a Recon on steroids but with more than just a pretty new paint scheme. The '4 blasters in 1' text suggests it comes with detachable barrel attachment, stock attachment and bipod; the clip looks a higher capacity to the traditional N-Strike clips, and its shooting a blue and orange tip dart.
Big news would be the performance upgrade- The packaging boasts 75ft out of the box! IF this is true, it again would appear dem clever fellas at Nerf have taken the time to listen to their fans, because this looks pretty impressive... and at least from my part.. just plain pretty:D
I'm gonna guess it'll all be made public in a week or so at the TIA Toy Fair, so as always, this is still one for the rumour mill... but oh what a cool rumour it's making!
Looks pretty- loving the stock. And the bipod. and the colour scheme:) |
So, an N-Strike that could easily compete with Vortex straight out of the box? Ah, Keen As!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful stock! Super skeptical on the ranges though.
ReplyDeleteAs cool as an upgraded blaster would be, I really hope the performance increase is just from the darts.
ReplyDelete-Joe
Looks like a 10 dart clip to me, that'd be awesome! Not too many, not too few.
ReplyDeletemaybe actually a 12 or 15
Deletethey were always missing that in between mag with the six clip and at drum
They already have two 18 shot magazines, one box, one snail.
DeleteYou can have too many...?
DeleteBEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Delete@Anonymous: I`m still waiting for the C-mag. ;-)
Deletestock looks good but thay could have included a better laser/flashlight
ReplyDeletethis doesn't sound like nerf at all, 75ft? there hasn't been a blaster that boasts over 40ft...ever. Good lord if this is true, OMW would have a field day with this blaster
ReplyDeleteWell you had to guess that NERF would be upping the range. The Vortex lines got the range but were lacking. And with OMW parts being cheap and available, NERF gona winded up with "egg on their face" if someone else can deliver. And they can't.
ReplyDeletehmm, dosn't look like its' got a recon style cocking slide. i mean, the shapes are all there, but it looks like the frame is shaped so it dosn't allow it to slide back. hmm, have to see.
ReplyDeleteIt has the exact decals of the recon shell and the base gun doesn't seam to be changed and any improvement probably comes from the new darts or a better plunger system.
DeleteI doubt it would be fake :) go nerf!!
ReplyDeleteRecon/AT lovechild.
ReplyDeleteI would say other than the 75ft that it looks real, the priming handle must be the same as the recon because it says 4 blasters in one meaning the attachments come of, the front grip looks nice and isn't the bipod combo. i love the stock, really nice looking, i hope the stock is as long as the other ones, (not shorter) and the clip looks to be maybe 12 darts but the transparency is great and really needed on a longer clip than 6 darts.
ReplyDeleteFINALLY!!! With so many people modding nerf blasters, it was just a matter of time until nerf decided to make a line of blasters targeting teens/adults. There were people making money off modding nerf guns ex-OMW and nerf knows if people are willing to spend money on those, they would spend money on just buying an already strong blaster. 75+ feet????? I freaking hope that's for real. my guess is prices are going to be a bit more though. prob like 50$ - 70$ for these blasters. I hope the material inside is better, and that its not just a spring upgrade. Can't wait till people mod these though :P get crazy sick ranges...
ReplyDeleteAgain, as long as they make a fully automatic one, im happy :)
ReplyDeleteAn automatic with a faster rate of fire and range.
DeleteBy using a solenoid as the plunger maybe? Why haven't they tried that yet?
DeleteI'm expecting the automatic to be the "most impressive blaster in the collection hitting shelves on 9.9.12."
DeleteThey always have had an automatic as the flagship blaster leading out their series (cough Nitron cough)
Yet generally one of the mid sized springers outdoes it for the Nerf community :)
I'm absolutely gonna get this blaster, but probably not any others. Probably...
the gun looks freakn beast. 75 ft,are you kidding?that is awesome! totally beats the votex line of guns.i just hope it is accurate.
DeleteI_ you look carefully at the lower side view picture, the bipod doesn't wrap around the tactical rail(the black attachment point thingy) looks a but like a Photoshop to me. I do hope its real, though, and that Nerf doesn't overprice it.
ReplyDeleteThat might be a concept pic derr. Hav u also noticed that its a cartoon? :P
DeleteNow there will be no reason to buy regular N-strike.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a gigantic money grab by nerf, they just made every single N-strike blaster outdated, same with the Vortex line.
If it was going to be useless a year after it was released, then why would they release it?
Theres the problem with Nerfing, its a gigantic arms race, this just makes it obvious.
Yeah but they aren't like super expensive, and the Rayven could still outperform these guns in close quarter. It's good to see a gun that can shoot super far away without having to be modded. I hate being hit by a Maverick shot by the same distance that an Alpha Trooper can hit me, that's not the way guns are supposed to work.
DeleteI don't know about you, but I'm excited for better ranges. (Also, this is the first time Nerf has outdated other blasters, Vortex was a joke compared to this. They are good indoors but outside the wind takes them like crazy, and they don't have nearly the same capacity as dart guns).
A few days ago, Nerf announced via Facebook that they were going to announce something BIG at the NYC Toy Fair 2012... I'm guessing this is it. Well I really hope so, cause this thing looks really awesome. Unfortunately, I highly doubt the internals will be any different. You can clearly see the Recon priming slide, and you can also see plunger tube protection thing coming out of the stock. I'm really hoping that these darts are a suitable replacement for the streamline darts, and if they are, then it makes sense that the gun can get 75 at a most likely angled shot.
ReplyDelete@Aloy, if you look closely at the lower picture, the whole thing is a computerized sketch. looks like something from pimp my gun. dosn't invalidate it. :P
ReplyDeleteI don't waste my money on repaints but this is like a half repaint half new gun. I will probably get it if it's real.
ReplyDeleteThe foregrip looks different to the Stampede's, so I wouldn't put money on it being a bipod, too.
ReplyDeleteAlso, is that a 12-round clip I see?
Who else thinks it's a big fuck you to orange mod works?
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking this gun. I've always wanted to see a mainly blue series but more importantly it's exciting to see range claims that can leave vortex in the dust.
ReplyDeleteWhere can we pre-order this gun if/when it may/does comes out and what will be the price of it? - JHL
ReplyDeletelooks like Nerf is now following OMW in their style of range claims in ads, "achieve up to 75ft"... but we conveniently neglect to mention its angled range? haha. sounds kinda desperate.
ReplyDeleteachieve up to 75 ff but you have to shoot it off the top of a cliff
DeleteMaybe the foregrip is attached to the barrel? That's what it looks like from the paint-style image.
ReplyDeleteAlternatively, the foregrip is connected to the priming mech so you have a fore-gripped Recon, which is pretty much a non slamfire AT. Hopefully it damages darts less too.
Actually, scratch that idea. From the box art the foregrip appears to be removable.
ReplyDeleteThat stock would look way better on an Alpha Trooper or even a Raider. Looks more like a shotgun stock... which is baffling why they haven't had one before.
ReplyDeleteNow they need to release an N-Strike Elite with an included Super Soaker Lightning Storm stock. Just make sure to replace the lightning bolt with an N-Strike logo please and thank you.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the blue switch-shot ex3?
ReplyDeleteWell, that particular blaster was merely blue with yellow and orange accents, like the LongStrike and original Raider, not blue and white like N-Strike Elite. Still, I see your point, and would have to say yes. The blue Switch-Shot was for the N-Strike Elite video game, and so it may be evidence that Nerf was considering the idea of making something more out of the name than a video game even then.
Deletehow much would you expect to pay for this blaster if it comes out write in £
ReplyDeleteI can't really see a place to cock it... might it be semi-auto? Also, It ony has one of the two iron sights. That's retarded. I wonder how many darts that mag fits... 10? And I wonder if the mags and darts are cross compatible with original N-Strike.
ReplyDeleteSince it appears to be based off of the Recon CS-6, I'd think that cocking it would be in the same manner... it's kind of hidden now that it is entirely blue, but the area just above the clip is a slide (look up some pictures of the original Recon to see what I'm talking about). I think the question of whether the new Elite darts are cross-compatible is a very significant one, though. If they are better weighted and better balanced for performance (and I assume, from Pocket's earlier chart, that they are), then we have to wonder whether Nerf would allow them to be functional with other blasters. It is pretty much a given that these "Elite" blasters will carry a price premium for their extra performance, and so I wonder whether Nerf would allow performance to be cheaply added to other blasters under their own brand name...
DeleteLook who's freaking out. 75 feet!? 10-12 dart clip!? How cool is that! but I just got a rayven.
ReplyDeleteWell! The original Recon was my first and favorite Nerf blaster, and I am quite happy to see a new one in such dashing and powerful trim... in my opinion, by far the better looking of the two Elite we've seen so far, especially because of the stock and the new clip! The clip especially I can see coming in handy...
ReplyDelete75 feet is good. This gun looks like a modded Recon, I think that this isn't real, but the darts are really cool.
ReplyDelete@Ben Again, my roomies and i have been pouring over the pics. seems that it IS a recon style cocking slide. its just the texturing makes it look like its non mobile. HOWEVER, i'd REALLY like a powered semi auto. i think NERF is missing the boat not making a CO2 powered foam blaster repeater. if i knew how to machine the check valves and actions i'd just mod a paintball gun action for a longer bolt stroke. the hammerhead barrels are even rifled.
ReplyDeleteIf real: Awesome! I can't wait to hear more about this.
ReplyDeleteThis would look so sick with the LS front gun barrel extension :D
ReplyDeleteI think it would be cool if they made a barricade with a MAG WELL! i would buy that.
ReplyDeleteThey do, it's called a rayven
DeleteI modded my barricade to have a quick 16 clip. Thats what works, because streamlines just fishtail allllll the time...
Deleteone thing everyone forgot to mention: accuracy. Now I realize darts won't be to accurate but I like to mod my blasters then "snipe" opponents. I'll probably get this as long as it is $40 or lower.
ReplyDeleteThat clip/mag seems like it holds more than the10-12 people are saying.
ReplyDeleteif you count the visible darts (5 and 1/2) then add that on to the 7 and 1/2 that we cannot see (really ... if you have a stampede clip and some darts near check it out) the we get 15. Assuming the dart fired was actually accounted for when the pic was taken the we get a 16 dart clip.
one time I'm going to contradict myself and say that it seems far too shot for 2-3 less darts than the stampede 18 dart clip.
Could be Nerf engineered a double stack magazine.
DeleteWhoops terrible math. Too much algebra and calculus does this to the brain :P. So it does seem to hold about 12 darts.
ReplyDeleteignore the last comment, please.
@Portal,LOL i did the same thing, i didn't know about this, so i went out and got myself a rayven... :(
ReplyDeleteQuick glance:
ReplyDelete1) I like the color scheme.
2) The front grip is a nice touch.
3) Howevever if this is a modified Recon, I am not too happy with the slide priming.
4) the stock looks nice, hopefully it will be somewhat expandable.
Damn I guess I have to start saving some dough, ill have to buy 2 of each blaster, one for me and one for my son...Nerf aint cheap in Hawaii. But this is very exciting news! Thanks UT!
ReplyDeleteNot a bipod but just a vertical grip.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the comments, but please note that the box art does not say "not final" all over like the Rayven had about 4 months before it got into people's hands. Assuming the same thing is true, this is either closer than expected to coming out or they didn't bother putting "not final" everywhere...
ReplyDeleteAnd when you say "mysterious" email, who was it from?
CrazyCon
Foregrip or Pump-Grip ? Talk amongst ya'selves...
ReplyDeleteSince it is "4 blasters in one" and appears to be like a Recon regardless, it is doubtlessly just a foregrip attachment. Not complaining, but I'd definitely prefer a pump foregrip to the gimmick of "4 in one".
DeleteI like the colour scheme, like a cross between the Raider/Longstrike blue and Whiteout...REALLY interested to know more about this Elite range...partly because I was indifferent about the Rayven till I got one...find those ranges hard to believe.
ReplyDeleteim freaking out! this looks amazing. kind of a big slap in the face to omw.i was about to buy a mav spring but know ill wait so nerf got me
ReplyDeletecam
One thing about this makes me unsure if it's real: The fore grip. If this is a redone recon, then I'm assuming that it primes the same way, which would make the fore grip pretty much useless.
ReplyDeleteI just spent about 60 USD on a bunch of NERF stuff, and now I find out that it was probably a complete waste of time? Great. Anyway, I really hope this thing comes out.My modded Scout does about 60 ft, so 75 out of the box is just epic. Looks f***ing awesome, too.
ReplyDeletedoesnt say cs-10 or something like that. looks like a recon. the longshot says 2 blasters in 1 since there are actually 2, taking off a barrel of something doesnt qualify as a blaster. 75 feet is too much since it takes regular guns with a strong spring and removed AR to achieve that. the recon is primed from the top so the handle on the bottom doesnt make sense. when i first saw this i wanted one but im pretty sure its just a dream made up by a mysterious email.
ReplyDeleteBottom handle could have nothing to do with the priming mechanism, as in the case of the Stampede.
Delete@Anonymous(last post) I'm fairly sure the Recon was marketed as a 3-in-1 gun at some point; Nerf counted the configurations with stock and barrel extension as substitutes for different products in their marketing before. Now, we take that and throw in a VFG.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the VFG is obviously just a rail mounted grip, not a pump grip. The gun still has the Recon type slide on top of the receiver. The grip makes no more or less sense on this gun than the stampede grip-pod, or a VFG on a firearm.
VFGs are used on real firearms to help with recoil.
DeleteThink I'll just put in my thoughts here:
ReplyDeleteIt's just a souped up Recon. That means Recon priming, which means you have to use the slide. Deal with it.
That stock does look very nice, however. Whoever said it looked like a shotgun stock has obviously not seen a full body rifle stock, or even some of the newer stocks available from Magpul, which this stock seems to be mimicing.
Clip size: 10-12. There are 5 1/2 darts visible before the magwell cuts the clip off. Like a normal Recon with a 6 clip, the darts fit just above the bottom of the magwell, so it's probably a 12 clip. If they release these clips seperately, you know they will sell very fast.
Internals wise: My theory is that they have a mildly improved spring, a tighter breech, a better stock seal, and a high-flow air restrictor, in the manner of the Alpha Trooper's AR.
I tend to agree with all of that, but even with those internals upgrades i'd still only expect a bit over 60 unless there was no restrictors at all. I could be quite wrong though
DeleteI am inclined to believe that the range claim here is not at zero elevation. 75' flat from a STOCK gun is nerfer dreamland territory, and for good reason (a 1.2g dart at 100fps is quite a bit of energy and there definitely are safety problems for commercial products). Not to mention that making a CS gun shoot 75' flat would require expensive materials and engineering to pull off with the desired factory reliability and idiot resistance of nerf guns. Basically, you would be looking at a factory OMW Massacre Recon. Finally, for Nerf to change its target demographic from kids and casuals to hardcores, by releasing guns that border on substitutes for airsoft and paintball (like full 120' plus NIC war guns are) would be a very risky move. While it would cater to a lot of people who want the more powerful gear and can't/don't want to build it themselves, it would also potentially be mismarketed because the name "Nerf" has been associated with toys. These things would end up in the hands of kids accidentally and result in a lawsuit. Not to mention that the target audience wouldn't even pick up on the series - the only adults/hardcores who associate Nerf with serious gaming/sports and such are people who are existing members of the nerf community who already have access to 75' and beyond guns. The airsofters, etc. whom Nerf would be trying to reach with new ballsy guns would just pass on "Nerf, the toy brand" without a thought because they don't know any better than stock toys.
ReplyDeleteSo... I think that angle is dead, unless Nerf is undergoing a massive transition from toys to the "safe indoor paintball" market and hasn't told us.
The range numbers are likely angled. A lot. I would hazard that 50-55' is the absolute max of what the guns will shoot in an NIC range test - similar to stock Alpha Troopers under certain conditions.
Do you think the N-Strike darts and the Elite darts are interchangeable? Plus, I heard there's another one, with the same range capabilities and slam fire!
ReplyDeleteBy the way the box art showing it being held, and the non-bipod functioning grip, we might be looking at a massacre alpha trooper, not a recon.
ReplyDeleteThis was posted on Nerf's FB page: "Toy Fair 2012 kicks off in NYC this weekend. Keep your eyes on this page as we share news and photos, just because Nerf Nation rules. We will be telling you all about one of the biggest Nerf innovations and most impressive developments to the……sorry, we’ve already said too much. Stay tuned for more, Nation – it’s totally worth the wait."
ReplyDeletebeleive it or not, this is my blaster. i have a white and blue recon with a foregrip,12 clip, and omw kits. i laugh and say"i had it first!"
ReplyDeleteI feel like this "elite" series is hasbro's way of trying to prevent mod companies like OMW from making profit off there pre-existing products. Understandable, however, what annoys me is that if these pictures are actually accurate, what we're getting is a repainted recon with a "pede" handle and a different stock. My guess is that that there won't be ARs and will have a tighter seal for the plunger.
ReplyDeleteI'll eventually check it out, but I know it has nothing on my modded recon with a OMW massacre kit. Without that kit, my stock recon would be getting 10 to 20 feet max, but now, i kid you not, it breaks 100 feet easily and is WAY more accurate.
True, but at the same time Nerf can only go so far for legal/safety reasons. OMW can pretty much do as they please and can make blasters shoot 100 feet flat if they want. Nerf has had problems with kids shooting themselves in the eye with blasters that get 30' range. 75 feet flat is out of the question for Nerf.
DeleteUnless these are rocket propelled darts...
I'll get to work >:)
blastermodsandmore.blogspot.com
Oh this is gonna be good..
ReplyDeleteIt's a revamped recon but looking at the colour, stock, clip, and grip...
ReplyDeleteI MUST HAVE THIS >:l
WHAT CHUCK NORRIS IS WORKING FOR NERF
ReplyDeleteQue peasssssooooo!!!!!!! (as in wow what a smoth piece, I love it) certainly it's a nice blaster
ReplyDelete
