Review: Nerf N-Strike Scout IX-3

Nerf N-Strike Scout IX3. Small..Tuff.
Part of the Nerf "Unity Power System" (because I haven't seen this gun sold individually in Australia), The Scout IX-3 is a pistol-like blaster that uses a cocking slide system not dissimilar to the tried and true Maverick, but loads from the barrel like the Nite Finder. For something so simple it's actually the coolest gun of the three (in the Unity)

The Scout comes in a red and grey colour scheme which I really liked. It features the N-Strike tactical rail grooves for your add-ons, and storage holes for two extra darts. A "stealth" button on the slide enables the blaster to be fired by a button on the Titan when connected as part of the Unity Power System. But having it sticking out of the side of the Titan looks sorta stupid so it serves a much more useful function as a stand alone. I think anyone I know who's picked it up straight away goes into secret agent mode, holds the gun barrel up and hides behind a wall. It's protocol:)

The Scout packs a considerable punch; I can shoot my ceiling with it no problems (that's two storeys). It comes with micro sucker darts but obviously because of the kind of gun it is it can take all varieties of micro dart.

As far as single shot guns are concerned, I really like this one, but it's a personal preference thing whether you prefer this or the Nitefinder (or the Dart Tag Strikefire, or the Element, or..a football).

Unfortunately I don't think you can't get these stand-alone so you'll need to fork out the $40bucks AUS or more for the Unity Power System to get it. I ALMOST think it's worth it:)

Usability: 7/10
Out of the box performance: 9/10
Cool factor: 7.5/10
Price point: 6/10 (with the Unity Power System)
