Rumours: N-Strike Elite: Rampage

In continuing with the N-Strike Elite themes of upgrading N-Strike blasters, here we've got some pics of what looks like a souped up N-Strike Raider. Called the "Rampage" (grrrrr what a tough name!) it looks like it's sporting a new 25 round drum, new colour scheme and sans stock; still featuring the slamfire capabilities and it's shooting that mysterious blue and orange tip dart. The image below suggests it comes with some form of tactical rail shield attachment, but the earnest dude on the box isn't packing one so am unsure if this is a yay or nay on release.

Once again the big news is the new N-Strike Elite line boasts 75 ft distances out of the box.

  1. Needs the stock!! Raider and Alpha Trooper are their best blasters, so this is great news. Love it in White Out!!

    2. That's not a stock. it looks like he's got backpack shoulder straps- one on each shoulder.

  2. hrm looks like the drum from a raider but has been tweaked to remove the drum offset which is present on both the raider and the alpha trooper but other than that looks exactly like a raider apart from the shield

  3. On inspection, is that tactical rail actually just the blue above a white section of the blaster?

    1. It looks to me that these darts are made of a different material. Maybe the darts will be heavier

  5. The drum is a mix between the at and raiders with the capacity. I hope The new "elite" darts are streamline esque darts with a shorter post in it and a weighted tip.

  6. I again don't know about the 75ft ranges, but the drum is nice because it is ambidextrous meaning it doesn't get in the way for right handers for other guns, the shield looks the best out of all the other shields and the stock isn't so much problem but will this be $20 or $30? i wish it was a raider with the mag port facing down like the AT because getting the clip out of a raider is harder than an AT.

    1. I fear the drum will get in the way for both lefties and righties on other blasters. I have simply reversed an AT snailmag for use in my Recon and that works fine and gets it out of the way quite neatly.

The positioning of the TacShield in the second picture seems to be in line with Nerf`s policy of favouring lefties with their snailmag blasters.

  7. Of course EVERYONE is interested in seeing how nerf achieves these new fantastic ranges out of the box. I feel it might be better machining of direction plungers in combination with the new weightier darts. I had hesitated on purchasing a Raider simply due to price and lower range due to reverse plunger, compared to the AT. This new blaster looks MUCH better and I finally will be able to justify spending the money

  8. This is the most exciting news from nerf since.... EVER!!! Vortex was really exciting and very fun and extremely new thing, but this is like... YEEEEESSS!!!! I've been speculating this and waiting for this for a loooong time... so many teens/adults use nerf guns and mod them that it was just a matter of time till nerf decided to make a line of blasters for non kid nerfers... which is a LOT of people... and with so many people modding blasters and making money off of helping others mod blasters or selling mod kits, nerf would be stupid to not see that people are willing to spend more money for a better blaster. I hope these will have stronger material inside, better springs, and i hope these darts are actually something different, not just a new color and slightly new tip.

  10. Oh man I hope that drum is compatible with regular N-Strike blasters.

  12. 25 round drum. Awesome! Why can't they stop stealing my money!

  13. A center-aligned drum magazine? Nice! It'll finally balance right in other clip-fed blasters.

  14. the shield position would only work if you were left handed, which is quite unlike nerf.

    1. Great point, Nerf is generally biased towards right-handed people. Then again, for all we know the image could be flipped.

  15. Quick Glance:

    1) looks the exact same as the Raider.
    2) wish it had a stock, that new Recon 2.0's one is nice, and the Original Raider Stock is still my favorite.
    3) A 25 Round Drum seems like a nice medium, higher capacity over the 18 Round Clip and Drum, but it is not off center like the 35 round drum. (I do not consider the 18 round drum off center, while it is, the weight distribution is negligible)

  16. The drum is the only thing of real interest here...although if the shield is reversible it might be of interest.
Odd to drop the stock, the Raider stock is a favourite.

  17. I really want to know how these things work. From the looks of it, this is another reshelled Recon (judging by the piece on the back for a stock), but if it really does hit 75 feet... On the other hand, it could just be 45 degree angle and there are NO air restrictors at all. However, there is no recommended age limit on the box, and that could be dangerous enough that they don't want lawsuits over a mild stinging pain that goes away in five seconds. Granted, the spitwad guns and the Xploders get ridiculous stock ranges. I bet the new dart design can get significantly more range than a streamline (which isn't saying much since they fishtail out of medium power blasters, like modified nightfinders and raiders). Or this could be a big hoax.

  18. It could be a hoax. Something to keep in mind is Nerf seems to have been keen to not injure people with their stock blasters.

So maybe the new ammo has a better range and they may have tweaked the plunger internals to be more efficient, without increasing velocity such that it takes out eyes.

    1. @Stealth.Elf

Better range necessitates increasing velocity, there's no way around it.

My guess is that this is a raider with a better seal + stronger spring + no air restrictors and weighted darts.

  19. Since I have an Alpha Trooper massacre kit from OMW coming soon, I don't have much interest in this aside from the new drum.

  20. Hmmmm... if it's an N-Strike "Elite" blaster, the why does the drum have a normal N-Strike badge on it? Looks like Mr. Photoshop needs to pay more attention to detail. Anyway, I'm not expecting this thing to be real. However, those blue darts look promising. I hope they will be compatible with normal N-Strike clips.

  21. I heard that the N-Strike Elite blasters will be released on August 1st of 2012.

  22. Nerf has definitely confirmed this, it's real. They must have done something serious to amp up the power of these. My best guess is that they actually sealed up the breach, allowing the whole barrel to be useful (Notice that both Rampage and Retaliator have long barrels). Of course, they'd also have to add plunger padding to quiet it down (instead of ARs) and enough power and plunger airseal to make use of the better barrel. Only time will tell.
