Rumours: Stampede ECS... 50?

50 round drum? Gives your Stampede real balls! :)
Throughout the night it seems someone out there sent this link to several of us Nerf bloggers; it looks like a 50 round drum to accompany the Stampede. 50 rounds?! It does sorta hang there like a...hmm. :P

I'd be more excited if I could see a better image or had more reliable intel on it. Albeit it IS hosted on the hasbro website, so that suggests it's the real deal; however from looking at the box art it looks like they've brought in the guy who empties their bins to take a crack at the Photoshopping cos it's kinda poorly done. The layout is amateurish and the perspective of the way the drum sits in the Stampede looks wrong; it also doesn't match the image of the drum in the right hand side.

What's your opinion folks? The real deal? Or dodgy brothers?:)

  3. I don't see anything on the rest of the web, maybe it was a mistake?

  4. Where is the Hasbro link? And who sent you the link? Finally, Nerf wouldn't have part of the drum picture run off of the box as it does (they want people to see the entire thing and want to buy it).

  5. Ya. But what about those with a stampede already. How r they supposed to get a drum. I think its fake or the drum comes with a new blaster.

  6. I tend to think this is a pre-release photo as well. They might have attempted a 50 round double-drum and intended to sell it with it, but probably discovered that it held some faults; that is, if my Raider drum's consistent jamming on my Stampede is an indication, a similar problem might have been responsible for its cancellation. Although I think the 18-round clips were a far better idea in the first place anyway...

  7. I don't know, Nerf has done the who release, then photoshop the box and re-release before. It could be true, they just needed better, stronger springs to push the darts up to prevent jamming. Where are the black dials that manually push the darts up though... hmmm.

  8. that'll be awesome if it doesnt jam as much

  9. I hate to hate on nerf, but scrotum drum? If you slap that on a longshot it will be the most obvious and one of the least impressive forms of masculine compensation.

  10. if it is real, then when does it come out?

  11. If any of you have seen the instructions bookletof the stampede, the bottom left corner said to put in the drum, not clip.
WHERE'S the DRUM?)This might be a mistake that changed it all

  12. you guys have to belive this. its like when the stampede was first spotted everyone was like, o thats just some proto type or thats just some vulcan/longshot photoshop and no one belived it. yet today here were are and everyone who likes nerf owns a stampede. i meen c'mon when nerf says something they mean it. and just because it has no jam twisty things to unjam it doesnt mean its fake. i mean if you look at some old raider boxs you will see they have white parts in the raider drums and NO JAM THING. and think of allllllll the other rumors about of the guns like the swarmfire, quick 16,all of the new supersoakers, the clear vulcan, the clear series, the sonic series, the raider, the new dart tag pistol, the barricade, spectre, alpha trooper and barrel breaks were all rumors at some point and now there some of the most popular guns out there. so you all just need to have a little faith and belive in nerf that these things are real even though how odd they look

  13. It's not that we don't believe it, It's just that we don't have enough information to confirm or deny it. We agree that most Nerf rumours ARE true (understand we were the ones who made references to the clear vulcan, sonic series and we were the first to report on the new dart tag range)it's just the intel we got on THOSE was a lot easier to confirm than this.

All and all it makes a whole lot of sense. Just a matter of principle for this blog we don't say "IT IS" if we don't know for sure.

  14. The difference between this and the Stampede photos is that the Stampede photos were photographs of an actual Stampede, not a .jpeg of the box art (and rather poor quality at that)

Until I see a photo of the drum itself or even a photo of a box, I'm calling "pre-release beta".

  15. i think it might be real, i went to my local target and the gun w/ the magazine for $44.99. i didn't buy it because i had spent all of my money on other guns.

  16. anonymous above = dumbass lier faggot bitch.

  17. That's pretty much a copy of a Beta-C mag. Hurrah, a Stampede that can be used as a SAW! Now we just need a decent bipod...

  19. I don't know if I'm the only one to have this thought or not, if this picture is real it opens the posibility for Nerf to sell the 18 long clips individually, or an entirely new blaster to package them with. I for one hope its the start of Nerf selling extended mags as an accessory rather than spending all our money on blasters just to get these high capasity mags, just something to think about.

  20. I doubt that's it. You'd think Nerf would make something less... suggestive. I mean, look at it!!! Ewww. It would look cooler if it wrapped around the blaster.

  21. anonymous above Julian- suck it!!!!

  22. 5 years later, nerf wont exist... or rather the spirit of nerf will have died and left a really, really, really awesome shell. No seriously, like a torqoise cycada shell(if they existed) well, whether its a rumor or not, someone hy up on the nerfing tree will say, " darn underground company movement, will need to alert pocket and have him infintrate their facility just like he did to steal OUR swarmfire. No, just kidding, but similiar concept. Check out the short story on one of the swarmfire articles.

  23. well ummmm.. i think what the stampede is trying to say to the other blasters to suck its *caugh* soo umm yeah thats all i have to say

  24. Before the stampede was released there were quite a few leaks such as early amazon product listings, target SKU's etc which referred to the stampede ECS-50, along with there being boasts in the early press-releases about the new blaster having the largest capacity of any of the nerf guns boasting about it's ability to fire 50 shots without reloading.. everyone just seems to have magically forgotten this? all of a sudden in about august all press releases changed to just mentioning the stampede ECS, with the 50 being dropped.

I feel it's almost certain nerf originally intended the stampede to be a blaster like the one above, however there were rumours about the mags reliability as to why it was dropped.

The question now is "will nerf continue working on it's 50 round drum for later release?" They could release it down the track, or the pic could just be from the possibly now abandoned ECS-50 idea

It does look suspect however- particularly the placement of the dart count - looks amatuer

Either way we dont know for sure, but I was just trying to point out that everyone seems to have so quickly forgotten that the stampede WAS going to be the stampede ECS-50 with a 50 round clip/drum right up until the release when it was changed to the ECS

    Aj

  25. When the Stampede photo's that I saw were discovered before release, the gun always had a clip. And everyone said it looked like a horrible photoshop. And now many people revert to the same ideals about this new 50 round drum. Nerf may have a 'pre-release' party or something to see how the consumer likes it. Or these could just be old photos. It's hard to tell, seeing as so many people have came up with some sort of proof of it being real. But wether it's real or not, it would be nice if nerf came up with a new, high capacity clip and sold it seperately. The only extra ammo that I can buy in stores is extra vulcan belts and 6 round clips. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  26. At first i thought that this was fake... but wait, is that a link to the box art of the Stampede ECS-50 on hasbro.com?

Yes, it looks like we may be looking a whole new blaster capacity in the eyes. So for those of you that think that this couldn't possibly be real, is this proof enough for ya (oh, I might use this for my blog)

    ReplyDelete
  27. A lot of the arguments here about this being a fake are actually pretty poor, and I have found counter-arguments for many of them.

Firstly about the box art. The art is almost identicle to the actual stampede box. The clip on the actual stamped box does go off the bottom of the box like the drum here. The placement of the information is also the same, along with the dart count which someone referred to as looking "amateur". The arguments in the orignal blog post about the drum seem untrue to me, as in my eyes the perspective on the drum is correct, and the two images of the drum show the two different sides: like the raider drum it has a transparent back.

Now the stampede was originally released as the "ECS-50". one of my friends bought a stampede on the release date which has "Stampede ECS-50" written on it, whereas mine, bought at a later date, merely says "Stampede ECS". This along with the differently designed clips in the early release suggests a number of manufacturing changes just before and after the release date, and so it is possible that the change from double drum to clips could have been shortly before the release.

The double drum doesn;t use the same system as the beta C-mag, as it appears to use an S shape trail of darts, ratehr than two circles. My guess is that the complexity of the double drum led to both an expensive manufacturing process and low reliability, both of which are good reasons to switch to the simpler 18-clip

  28. I think its photo shopped. The picture on right side of the box looks like 2 18 drum mags badly photoshopped together.

    ReplyDelete
  29. probably fake. it could be real but nerf would not relabel the stampede to have ECS-50 just for the drum mag

    ReplyDelete
  30. The thing is probably going to overheat and catch fire if you shoot all the darts without stopping.

  31. Guys, check this link out click on menu and click on the stampede it's name is ecs-50 ?
