The Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 would have to be one of the more infamous guns of the N-Strike range. Both loved and hated at the same time, it was considered to be awesome in concept but pretty poor in performance.

Personally, I was quite looking forward to the Recon CS-6: it was the first customisable blaster that came with a magazine style clip system for bullets, introducing the new Streamline foam dart. The other big selling point was the "build your own blaster" sales pitch- coming with a detachable barrel, stock, 'tactical' light and aiming sight. Whooooo hoooo I thought.. sounded pretty cool...

The Nerf N-Strike Firefly REV-8 is a weird gun. I'd resisted getting it several times, simply because I wasn't really a fan of how it looked. I was also not sure if "glow in the dark" foam darts was really a selling point for me. And.. again.. I really wasn't a fan of how it looked.

When I finally picked one up, I have to admit.. it's pretty cool. The revolving barrel supports 8 foam micro sucker darts; it comes with 8 glow in the dark white darts I might add. And although the gun itself looks rather odd and bulky, it's actually quite comfortable to hold and the back of the gun makes for a makeshift stock in your shoulder/chest.

Review: Nerf Elimination Set

Nerf Eliminators. Nerf addiction starts soo small..

These little fellas were what started me off on my foam dart gun journey. I ordered them from an online e-tailer which came in a pack of four tiny single shot guns (which on the forums seem to be merely called "Eliminators") and brought them into the office one morning; the pack actually comes with game instructions which were loosely based around the old university game "Assassin".

What was SUPPOSED to be a stealthy crafty game of cat and mouse ended up being thrown out the window and we were left with a four way shoot out (the good, the bad, the ugly and.. the boss) that escalated to all out foam dart madness. Not bad for 40 bucks:)

Rant: It's Nerf or Nothing?

When it comes to foam dart blasters, I only ever buy Nerf. I made the mistake a few months ago by trying to give Airzone a chance (a Toys R Us brand I think made in licence from Buzz Bee or Lanard or something) and was pretty disappointed with the results. $39.95 AUS for a blaster that was as powerful and accurate as a beanbag.

Review: Nerf N-Strike Reflex IX1

Eliminators are almost impossible to find these days, but what seems to have taken their place are these awesome babies, the Reflex IX1. I got mine in a Toys R Us 6pack, but they also come in two packs (with a tech target) and recently you can buy them individually as well in some places in the U.S. They are small and lightweight, pack a decent punch for their size and good to have on you as a secondary "boot" pistol.

Review: Nerf N-Strike Nitefinder EX-3

Nitefinder EX-3. Office wars piece of choice.

The Nerf N-Strike Nitefinder EX-3 is Nerf's entry level foam dart gun and is featured in many office dart wars all over the world:) It is a single dart shooter, using a traditional pull back cock and fire mechanism like your old dart guns from when you were a wee-tacker. Here ends the similarities though, because the Nightfinder packs a real punch straight out of the box.

Nerf released the Maverick a few years ago and it's still considered the most recognised, and probably the most popular foam dart gun used in office cubicle 'wars' today.It's main selling point is the fact that it is a revolving barrel 6 shooter, which other than it being fantastic for emptying foam darts in quick succession at your adjacent cubicle mate, is just high on the "that's cool" factor. It's distinctive styling resembles something out of a video game while also being easy to stick into the top drawer of your desk.
