Gear Up N-Strike Series: Pic Spam

Gear up for.. tidying my living room. What a mess!
Nerf's upcoming Vortex line of disc shooters have prompted a new.. 'Gear Up' paint scheme for existing N-Strike blasters. Not sure what orange, black and light grey ave to do with gearing up, but I admit in person they are kind of pretty. There's not much I can really say about repaints of old blasters, so I'll just let the pic spam do the talking. Images after the jump.

The mystery white Maverick REV-6: A photo essay:)

Several months ago, we received a mysterious Nerf Maverick REV-6 in an all new white + grey colour scheme. At the time, we had no intel on it, and we were hoping we'd eventually learn more.. but nope.. nada.  We loved it because it was pretty much our signature colours and drooled at the possibility of other blaster variants in the same white and grey finish. There was speculation that MAYBE this was the new 'gear-up' line, but images of the orange and black striped blasters smashed that theory.

Flash forward a few months and still we're just as in the dark as we were when we got it. What it is/was for, I do not know. I can confirm this ISN'T just a custom paint job- the plastic is actually white and it looks very much factory painted rather than after market enamels.

In any case, it's a good looking design, and just for funsies, I decided to get all arty with my new camera on it. More weird angles after the jump:)

Amazon Japan: images of the Gear Up series

Brought to our attention by 'Mr Racoon'- Some promo images of the upcoming Gear Up N-Strike line- the Recon CS-6 and the Maverick REV-6 on the Japanese Amazon. I am a lil' over the Maverick and Recon and personally think they should rotate the limited edition blaster lines (I mean seriously, HOW many Mavericks do you really want!) but at least there will be a Barricade and Raider as well.

Arts + Crafts: Radioactive Mavericks

Drac, from the Nerf Grid  does some of the more innovative unique Nerf mods I've seen, and I'm quite the fan of this one. He calls it the 'Radioactive" Maverick mod, and he's basically done some mad Frankenstein work with some Sonic Mav's, and added some LED fun. Check the specs out on his blog; very schmick:)

Video: Updated Maverick REV-6 colour scheme.

Just a quick vid on the new Maverick REV-6 with updated colour scheme. It's not that exciting, but some readers prefer video.

(yes, I did intend to miss Mickey; i'm using sucker darts so I did want them to stick)

Preview: A new 2011 paintjob for the Maverick REV-6.. we got one!

District 9 eat your heart out: Nerf Maverick in new colours
We updated you a few weeks ago on a rumoured new 2011 paint scheme for the tried and true N-Strike iconic Maverick REV-6. Well, we got one today, and I have to admit, while I feel the Maverick is getting on a lil', it's still a pretty decent looking blaster.. ESPECIALLY in these colours. Big fan. Not much else I can really say about it as other than the aesthetics it's pretty much another Maverick for you to add to your Blue, Yellow, Clear and Sonic series arsenal...so we'll just pump out some photos for you:)

Uber Mavericks (courtesy of Dim Daemond)

Not one.. not two, but three, three barrels to count..ahh- ha ha ha ha
Back in August, 2010 we did a post on some pretty impressive Maverick REV-6 mods, courtesy of Dim Daemond from Nerf Haven. Sure, this may be old news, but we were so impressed, we just had to follow it up and feature a pic or two of the triple barrel Maverick he did.

They're Mavericks Jim, but not as we know it..
Pretty cool. (Pics courtesy of Dim Daemond via Nerf Haven)

Rumours: Maverick in UT colours?! (and we didn't even commission it!)

First...Blue. Then..Yellow. Clear. Green. White? I can see a rainbow..see a rainbow..see a rainbow tooooo...
Our special UTX project for some customised blasters is chugging away nicely, but ironically after we'd decided on blaster repaints in our Urban Taggers colours (white, black, orange and grey).. it looks like Nerf may have beaten us to it! I know, serious?!:)

Our latest intel has a photo of a new 2011 Maverick, suspiciously in the SAME colours that we were discussing.. (only I have no doubt our man's gonna do a better job). With so many fan paintjobs out there, I wouldn't blame you to cry..um.. "fan paintjob!" but apparently this may well be an actual official Nerf release .
ANOTHER Maverick. I know, serious?!

Rumours: Sonic Series?

DO you think 'Hulk?' or perhaps.. 'Turtles: secret of the Ooze"
We've heard about it, we've seen dodgey pics about it.. but check this one out, courtesy of our Humans vs Zombies friends.. This one looks pretty real to me..

I pose a question though.. Why does "sonic" translate to translucent green? (UPDATED: two more pics after the jump)

Arts + Crafts: 12 shot Maverick-be the fastest gun..and more rounds.

While I myself don't do mods (for purely practical, realistic reasons more than anything else) I am always impressed when someone comes out with a mod that is just FARKIN' COOL. This guy(Dim Daemond) takes it for the win. Awesome.

Review: Nerf N-Strike Clear Series

Invisible! Ok not quite..
Nerf's "clear the way for 9-9-10" campaign has involved releasing some of the current N-Strike blasters (The Recon CS-6. Raider CS-35, Nite Finder EX-3, Maverick REV-6 and Deploy CS-6)  range in translucent clear shells.  These are allegedly limited edition versions which may or may not be discontinued soon, but for now they're hugely popular and allowed for Nerf to get another bite of the blaster apple- people (including myself) were willing to go out and purchase another version of the same blaster:) Were there any differences to these five blasters other than looking different?

Preview: Nerf N-Strike Clear series- see-thru goodness

Nerf Clear Series: Thanks to SG Nerf for the images
"CLEAR THE WAY FOR THE STAMPEDE" is the tagline and Nerf are taking it literally. They're releasing limited edition 'Clear series" of N-Strike blasters to coincide with the promo for the new 9-9-10 flagship blaster (ie the Stampede ECS); you'll be able to pick up the Nitefinder, Maverick, Recon, Raider and Deploy in new clear plastic (and orange internals) finishes.

Review: Nerf N-Strike Maverick REV-6

Nerf N-Strike Maverick REV-6. Yeee Haww!
Nerf released the Maverick a few years ago and it's still considered the most recognised, and probably the most popular foam dart gun used in office cubicle 'wars' today. It's main selling point is the fact that it is a revolving barrel 6 shooter, which other than it being fantastic for emptying foam darts in quick succession at your adjacent cubicle mate, is just high on the "that's cool" factor. It's distinctive styling resembles something out of a video game while also being easy to stick into the top drawer of your desk.
